Training Description: In this training, participants will examine the impact of trauma on emotional and behavioral regulation and review practical, trauma-informed approaches for responding to challenging interactions with youth and young adults. The session will explore how traumatic experiences can influence behavior and functioning, helping participants better understand the connection between trauma and regulation. Attendees will be introduced to strategies for preventing crises and trauma-informed techniques for managing challenging behavior. The training will also outline the process of supportive debriefing following difficult encounters and highlight ways to foster safety, self-regulation, and resilience in the workplace.
Objectives: Participants will be able to...
· Help participants to identify what happens in the brain when one feels emotionally dysregulated and unable to access executive function skills
· To help participants identify when someone is in distress, and use their relational de-escalation skills to support the client
· Participants will be able to manage their own emotional reactions to be able to be more responsive to the client’s immediate distress
· For participants to assess when a client can utilize their problem-solving strategies
· Participants will have an array of approaches to help co-regulate a client in distress and to increase safety within the environment
CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS:
2.00 hours of Continuing Education will be offered for Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors, (LADC I, LADCII, and LADC Assistants), Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (CAC/CADC), and Nurses (RN/LPN).
2.00 hours of Contiuing Eduation for Social Work (SW). Attendees must have their camera on for the training, as well as participate in all breakout sessions.
2.00 hours of Continuing Education will be offered for Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs), all continuing education for LMHCs in MA must be approved by a recognized entity, NBCC, National Board of Certified Counselors is recognized by the MA Division of Professional Licensure Board of Allied Mental Health and Human Services Professions.
ADEPT Educational Institute, Inc., is recognized by the National Board for Certified Counselors to offer continuing education for National Certified Counselors (NCC). ADEPT Educational Institute, Inc. is an NBCC-Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEPTM) and may offer NBCC-approved clock hours for events that meet NBCC requirements.
