An exploration into the difference that play makes in the lives of children and their families. In this training, we reflect on the role that play holds in our daily lives — with the understanding that our current comfort level with play is directly impacted by the ways in which it was either celebrated or discounted in our lives as children. After thinking through the very valid reasons why play can be so hard for adults, we offer strategies for supporting parents in accessing their own playfulness and connecting with their children. Play is one of the most powerful mediums for engaging in crucial life skills such as frustration tolerance, ideas generation, and emotional regulation. Indeed, it sets children up to be life-long thinkers and learners!
