What is the NURTURING PROGRAM?

The Nurturing Program for Families in Substance Abuse Treatment and Recovery is a transformative curriculum that guides participants on their journeys in both recovery from Substance Use Disorders and in improving their parenting skills and relationships with their children.

Through interactive exercises, the Nurturing Program helps parents be curious about and reflect on their own thoughts, feelings and intentions – and those of their children. This enhances parents' self-awareness - thereby deepening their ability to connect with their children.

How does the NURTURING PROGRAM work?

An interactive, engaging curriculum of 17 sessions that supports people in recovery to:

  • explore their own histories
  • understand forces affecting their families
  • build skills to help their families recover

The Nurturing Program has successfully been used in substance use treatment and family services settings such as peer recovery centers, congregant housing for addiction treatment, correctional facilities, and many more.
