Description: This training provides participants with a understanding of trauma and its impact on youth and young adult development, including social, emotional, and cognitive domains. We will explore the relationship between trauma and substance use, as well as the emotional and behavioral traits often displayed by individuals who have experienced traumatic events.

Throughout the training, this case study will be revisited as new information is presented, allowing participants to apply the six guiding principles of trauma-informed care in real time. Emphasis will be placed on culturally affirming, inclusive practices that acknowledge and address the influence of systemic oppression, historical trauma, and identity.
