Training Description:

This training focuses on understanding the basic concepts of group work, best practices for structuring groups, and identifying ways to better manage different group roles and dynamics. Through a strengths-based model, facilitators will learn the most effective ways to promote group cohesion and successful group work. Ways to manage group dynamics will be reviewed. This training is aimed towards anyone working with youth and young adults; prior knowledge of groups is not required.

Objectives: Participants will be able to...

  • Identify 2 basic concepts of group work and facilitation.​
  • Identify the 2 tasks of the facilitator when leading groups.​
  • Describe at least two way to support group cohesion.
  • Describe the importance of group facilitation skills in the context of youth and young adult development. ​
  • Identify at least two ways to better manage different behaviors and dynamics in group settings.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS:

2.00 hours of Continuing Education will be offered for Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselors, (LADC I, LADCII, and LADC Assistants), Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors (CAC/CADC), and Nurses (RN/LPN).

2.00 hours of Contiuing Eduation for Social Work (SW).  Attendees must have their camera on for the training, as well as participate in all breakout sessions.

2.00 hours of Continuing Education will be offered for Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs), all continuing education for LMHCs in MA must be approved by a recognized entity, NBCC, National Board of Certified Counselors is recognized by the MA Division of Professional Licensure Board of Allied Mental Health and Human Services Professions.
