In-Home Therapy

In-Home Therapy

In-Home Therapy Services (IHT) is a structured, strength based, collaborative, therapeutic relationship between a clinical team and a youth and their family for the purpose of treating the youth’s behavioral health needs. IHT works to enhance the family’s present understanding of the youth’s needs and to support changes that promote healthy functioning where the youth lives, learns, works, and plays. The team specializes in trauma-informed care, behavioral and substance use/co-occurring disorders, as well as FASD.

Services for Youth and Their Families

IHT services use a clinical team approach that consists of a Masters-level clinician and a Therapeutic Training and Support (TT&S) staff. The clinician develops and guides treatment, providing family therapy and making clinical assessments while the TT&S staff offers coaching and skill building family members need to translate therapeutic work into day-to-day behavior change. IHT services are delivered in-home and in the community. The services include 24/7 urgent response capability by the Institute for Health & Recovery.

In-home Therapy is covered by MassHealth for individuals under the age of 21 whose needs cannot be met in an outpatient level of care, or, by some Massachusetts-based commercial insurance plans for youth under the age of 18.

Our team focuses on:

  • Providing integrated treatment around substance use, mental health, trauma, and other co-occurring issues.
  • Being culturally responsive and strengths-based.
  • Helping families improve communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Identifying pro-social activities.
  • Connecting families to both natural and professional supports.
  • Supporting and advocating for families when there is additional system involvement.
