IHR is proud to offer home-based, recovery oriented, intensive services for families impacted by substance use. Our team works closely with the Department of Children and Families to support families in charting their own recovery pathways, increasing safety and wellbeing, and working towards individual goals. We prioritize connections: helping family members develop and strengthen their networks of support and their relationships to one another.
FEP
FEP (Family Engagement Program) is for families impacted by parent/caregiver substance use.
FEP offers home-based, intensive, family-centered treatment and recovery support services to parents and caregivers facing substance use and/or co-occurring mental health challenges. Our approach is trauma-informed, family-focused, and customizable to meet the unique needs of each family. We use a variety of evidence-based practices including:
- MI (Motivational Interviewing)
- Seeking Safety
- Nurturing Program for Families in Substance Abuse Treatment and Recovery
- Flexible family support and intensive case management services
FEP-Y
FEP-Y (Family Engagement Program: Youth and Young Adult Focus) is for youth and young adults struggling with substance use, and their families.
FEP-Y engages youth and young adults experiencing substance use and mental health needs. We meet young people where they are—in their homes, schools, and communities—offering individualized care that builds on the strengths of each youth and family and includes evidence-based interventions such as:
- A-CRA (Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach)
- MI (Motivational Interviewing)
- ARC (Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency)
- Flexible family support and intensive case management services

PEERS
PEERS (Peer Engagement and Enhanced Recovery Support) is for parents seeking support from a trained peer recovery specialist with their own lived experience of parenting in recovery.
Delivered by peer recovery specialists with lived experience of parenting in recovery, our peer support service offers compassionate, individualized support including:
- Emotional support for parents navigating the child welfare system
- Hands-on assistance accessing needed services and resources
- Help in developing personalized recovery pathways and connecting with community recovery resources
- Encouragement, inspiration, and understanding
