Building Resilience through Intervention: Growing Healthier Together

BRIGHT helps parents in recovery and their children to strengthen their relationships, find new ways to connect, and build trust and understanding. BRIGHT clinicians meet with parents and children at home, in the community, in the office, or online, and offer emotional and practical support to help families build on their strengths, cope with challenges, and grow together. We know that people in recovery can be great parents, and we are here to help you achieve the goals you have for yourself and your child.

Who is BRIGHT for?

BRIGHT is for people in recovery who are pregnant or have children under the age of six, are involved with DCF, the SOFAR Clinic, or Project RESPECT, and want to discover answers to questions like,

  • Why does my child cry or throw tantrums so often?
  • What does it mean when my child hits or bites?
  • How can I parent differently from the way I was parented?
  • My child and I were apart for a while. How can we re-connect?
  • What can I do about my own upset feelings when my child is upset?
  • How can I support my child through tough times?

Ways You Are Helping Your Child Learn

BRIGHT is here to help you and your child discover ways to connect with each other.

When you …

  • Look into your child’s eyes
  • Tell your child you are near
  • Hold your child
  • Sit with your children while they eat
  • Play games with your child
  • Read a story to your child
  • Listen to your child’s worries
  • Stay calm with your child when things get difficult

… You are teaching your child that you can be counted on for safety and emotional security.
