Given its significant role in substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery, trauma continues to be a cross-SAMHSA and BSAS priority. This training's main goal is to enhance the ability of substance use disorder treatment programs to integrate trauma-informed best-practices into their service delivery.  To achieve this goal, we will present and discuss the trauma integration assessment and planning process.  We will also provide tools and strategies for implementing a trauma-informed approach (TIA). This training highlights the need for organizational assessment of readiness and capacity before implementing TIA and describes strategies for such assessments. The training is based on SAMHSA’s Practical Guide for Implementing a Trauma-Informed Approach.  It focuses on assessment and implementation strategies across the following 10 domains:

1. Training and Workforce Development

2. Governance and Leadership

3. Cross Sector Collaboration

4. Financing

5. Physical Environment

6. Engagement and Involvement

7. Screening, Assessment, and Treatment Services

8. Progress Monitoring and Quality Assurance

9. Policy

10. Evaluation
