This training is designed to provide participants with information on the impacts of racial trauma and ways to support healing and resiliency. This training begins with a brief introduction to trauma and trauma informed care. It then moves on to demonstrate that to be trauma informed organizations and those working within them must respond to racial trauma in ways that promote safety, healing, and resiliency among those affected by racial trauma.
The focus of this training is on reflective practice and skills-building. Participants will begin to explore ways in which people are impacted by racial trauma and ways to identify resiliency. Participants will also learn how to establish and maintain healthy relationships with those affected by racial trauma and increase equitable spaces within the workplace environment.
At the end of this training participants should be able to:
1. Define racial trauma
2. Describe how it may impact individuals and communities
3. Describe ways to support resiliency and recovery
