Wellness Services

IHR’s Wellness Services seeks to integrate a Wellness-oriented approach to treatment and recovery. IHR’s Wellness Coordinator provides training on Wellness and the integration of Wellness practices into the provision of substance use and mental health treatment, and prevention services, as well as recovery-oriented systems of care. The Wellness department provides technical assistance to service providers and recovery organizations, including a “train-the-trainer” model for implementation of IHR’s Wellness Curriculum.

Funded by the Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Abuse Services, IHR developed a Wellness Curriculum to enhance existing treatment services and support recovery through promotion of overall health, wellbeing and lifestyle choices. This curriculum includes topics of physical, emotional and spiritual health, nutrition, yoga, meditation and mind-body focused activities, relationships, relaxation, and self-care.

Services have been delivered to residential treatment programs, Intensive Outpatient, Structured Outpatient Addiction Programs, community-based prevention programs, Recovery High Schools, and other middle and high schools.
