Pegasus House Alert

Short-term Residential Program for 16–19 Year Old Females with
Substance Use Disorders.

PEGASUS HOUSE, a youth residential substance abuse treatment program operated by The Psychological Center and located in Lawrence is now accepting referrals for 16–19 year old young women. The Bureau of Substance Abuse Services (BSAS) previously funded this program to serve 13–17 year old girls. Recently, as a response to the increasing need for treatment services that are responsive to the needs of young women, BSAS has changed the age of admission to Pegasus House to 16–19 year old women.

Referrals are appropriate for young women experiencing health, emotional/behavioral, family, developmental and/or social dysfunction as a result of alcohol and other drug use, and whose issues have not been resolved in less intense, community-based levels of care.

Pegasus is a highly structured short-term substance abuse treatment service for medically stable young women.  The program offers developmentally appropriate individual, group and family clinical services. Length of stay in the program varies based on the individuals treatment needs (up to 90 days).

Pegasus House will continue to be coordinated through Central Intake and Care Coordination at the Institute for Health and Recovery, which simplifies the referral and placement process.
