The Mass. Department of Youth Services, Massachusetts’ juvenile justice agency, contracts with IHR for expertise around youth at risk and substance use disorders. The DYS Substance Abuse Coordinator works closely with all DYS Regional Offices to ensure that youth with substance use issues are appropriately assessed, placed and treated. The Coordinator provides training to new DYS staff every month on understanding substance use issues, and provides ongoing technical assistance to all DYS facilities in the state. She oversees the implementation of substance use curricula and treatment within the DYS units and community offices.
